π²πΎ Langit Collective: Empowering Rural Economies Through Agriculture, from rice to aromatic spices! πΎ

Me getting down and dirty at Long Semadoh, Sarawak!
Whilst many chase their dream life in big cities, some are pursuing their mission closer to the nature.
Back in 2015, Lilian, Melissa, and Zi Xiang were volunteers building clean water systems for rural communities in Sarawak, Malaysia.
They saw beyond the income inequality in rural economies, and found the solution within the agricultural produce - heirloom rice πΎ.
The trio co-founded Langit Collective, a social enterprise which bridges the urban and rural economies by promoting heirloom agricultural produce by smallholder farmers from East Malaysia to larger markets.
The team works closely with the farmers, building trust within the communities and offering new learning experiences for the communities.
In 2023 alone, they have generated over RM 140,000 additional income for 60 farmers in six villages of Malaysia. The heirloom produce are now used by fine dining restaurants and hotels, including one of the Asiaβs Top 50 restaurant!
I was blessed with the opportunity to experience paddy planting at Long Semadoh, Sarawak with Langit Collective few years back.
The level of community trust and care they built with the farmer families are incredible! Itβs beyond monetary and hard work, but real passion and love! β€οΈ
You go, Langit! Keep rice-ing! πππ
P.S. Anyone's interested to experience paddy planting in Jan 2025? Iβm thinking of organizing an experiential trip. Reply this email with a YES!
